Built on the Tactical Combative System by Ali Smail — the instructor who delivered tactical training to the German Federal Police. For kids 5 to 13. Stream from any device.
Ali Smail is one of the few civilian instructors invited to deliver tactical training to the German Federal Police. He is a JJIF-certified Master Instructor, BJJ black belt, and active international competitor with nearly two decades of experience teaching kids and adults.
Clear Self-Defense is built on the same Tactical Combative System Ali co-founded and teaches to police, federations, and adults — re-engineered, lesson by lesson, into a kids' anti-bullying program for ages 5 to 13. Self-paced video. Practised at home with a parent. Opening 2026.

Most kids will face bullying — verbal, physical, or online. The skills that prevent it, end it, and protect a kid's confidence can be taught. The research backs it up. So does Ali's classroom.
They need the calm to sit inside the moment, the words to shut it down, and the confidence that comes from knowing they could handle it physically if they had to. That is what every lesson is being built to teach.
The Champion Quest is a structured 4-week anti-bullying program — 20 self-paced video lessons of about 6 minutes each, built directly on the Tactical Combative System. Roughly 2 hours of video plus written recaps, drills, and quizzes — about 3 hours of total learning, paced as 15 minutes, three times a week, all done at home with a parent.
Threat detection — adapted for kids. Recognising bullying behaviour early in the hallway, on the bus, in a group chat. How bullies pick targets, and the signals that move a kid out of the target zone.
Safe posture. The stance, eye contact, voice tone, and walk that bullies skip over. Practised as daily habits — not techniques to remember in a crisis.
Safe distance. Reading personal-space signals, recognising when a situation is closing in, and the small movements that keep kids out of arm's reach until they're safe.
Communication and de-escalation. The exact phrases and tone that interrupt a bully's pattern. Verbal scripts rehearsed until they come out naturally — even when a child is upset, surprised, or in a group.
Physical defense. A small set of high-percentage techniques from the Tactical Combative System to disengage, create distance, and walk away safely. Drilled until kids can do them tired, scared, or surprised. Built around escape, never around winning.
A step-by-step guide for parents to practise with kids between lessons. Includes scripts for the hardest conversations — what to ask after a tough day at school, how to follow up without making it bigger, when to talk to the school.
For nearly a decade, the work I'm proudest of has been with kids — programs at academies and federations across two continents. Clear Self-Defense is that work, distilled into a self-paced video course any parent and child can do together at home.
